Here are 3 tips for the perfect profile photo by photographer Hannah Houston who explains why there’s more to capturing the perfect head shot than just saying ‘cheese’.

1. What To Wear

The focus of the images for a headshot are your eyes and facial features so don’t distract from that by wearing busy patterns or multi-coloured outfits. Plain and simple does the trick.

2. Trust the Photographer

If you’re self-conscious in front of the camera then put your faith in the photographer’s skills. They want you to be happy with the results so will correct posture, positioning and do their upmost to make you feel relaxed.

3. Allow Time

Often the best images are taken at the end of the session once your shoulders are down and you’re wearing a genuine smile. If you’re nervous and unfamiliar with the surroundings it can take a few moments for you to relax in front of the camera. So allow as much time as possible and don’t try and squeeze your photo shoot into your 20 minute lunch break.
